Prof. Baba Seidu is a Professor of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics, School of Mathematical Sciences at the C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS). Before becoming a Professor in July 2023, he had served in the Department of Mathematics at CKT-UTAS as an associate professor(July 2021- June 2023) at CKT-UTAS, a senior lecturer (July 2017-2021) at the University for Development Studies and CKTUTAS, a Lecturer (2010-2017) and also as a Senior Research Assistant (2007-2010). He holds a PhD in Computational Mathematics with specialization in Mathemarical modelling of infectious diseases from the University for Development Studies. During his MSc studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, he served as a course Demonstrator in the Mathematics Department.
Over the years, he has served on a number of University/School/Department boards and committees including the CKT-UTAS academic board, the CKT-UTAS Graduate board, the CKT-UTAS Graduate Students' Handbook committee, the Faculty Journal Development Committee, Department’s graduate advisory Committee, Department’s Post-examination review Committee and the Department’s Programs re-accreditation Committee. He also served as the Course Coordinator for the Pure Mathematics Program, Campus/Faculty coordinator for the Third Trimester Field Practical Program and also the Head of the Mathematics Department.
He is currently the Vice Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences. His teaching and research interests are in both Pure and Applied Mathematics with special focus on Mathematical Biology, Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis, Topology and Efficiency Measurement. His main research area is in Mathematical Modelling of infectious diseases where he develops and uses Mathematical theories and Methodologies to give more insights into the spread and control strategies of infectious diseases. He has several research publications in peer-reviewed journals and has made presentations at local and international conferences. He has also served as a reviewer for a number of Journals and also as a Supervisor and an examiner for a number of PhD and MPhil theses. His hobbies include reading religious texts and cycling.
